On the way to PlanetProof

We promote contributing to the protection of products, plants and people, now and in the future. To highlight our efforts, we are using hallmarks and information about them. This article tells you more about the On the way to PlanetProof hallmark.

PlanetProof Hallmark

The independent hallmark On the way to PlanetProof proves (‘Proof’) that you are buying a product that is more sustainably produced and thus better for nature, the environment, climate and animals. With On the way to PlanetProof, farmers and horticulturalists are striving to align their way of working in balance with the planet’s carrying capacity. That is a process of taking more steps to burden our planet less (‘On the way to…’).

You may encounter the hallmark on dairy products, vegetables and fruit, eggs, flowers, plants, trees and bulbs. It proves (‘Proof’) that you are buying a product that is more sustainably produced and thus better for nature, the environment, climate and animals.

On the way to PlanetProof is another and international name for the former Milieukeur hallmark. In 2019 Milieukeur was replaced for all agricultural/food products by On the way to PlanetProof. The hallmark is managed by Stichting Milieukeur (SMK).

The information organisation Milieu Centraal has judged PlanetProof as a ‘top hallmark’ for food.

Strict criteria

Only horticulturalists and farmers who produce or cultivate in more sustainable ways can apply for the On the way to PlanetProof hallmark for their products or services. This is checked by external independent parties. On the way to PlanetProof farmers and horticulturalists are working towards cleaner air, fertile soil, good water quality and animal welfare. They pay attention to having more nature on their company land, circular waste processing and recycling. The criteria for PlanetProof are revised each year and tightened where possible.

Certification scheme

The rules regarding product/service certification from On the way to PlanetProof are strict. Our following products can be used within PlanetProof:

• Glass cleaners Eco-Forte, Topcleaner and Flusol-Forte.
• Biocides Hydrocare and SYN-Formalin.  After using SYN-Formalin, a penalty point must be recorded according to the PlanetProof certification scheme .
